:: Chicken Fun! DIY Poultry Pinatas ::
Unless your hens are always free-range, chances are you’ve seen signs of boredom in their run. Chickens have a strong pecking instinct and they are nosy by nature!
When you string up a piñata you take advantage of their pecking instinct and their nosy nature and provide a way of escape from the doldrums of life in the chicken run! (We do not keep roosters so we opt to free-range the last few hours of each day to avoid our hens wandering too far or risking attack.)
Just use baling twine or any heavy duty string, criss-crossing several layers. Then place your item at the center. Cabbage, chickweed, (I found a nice supply of this nutritious snack growing in our yard! Pictured above.) lettuce, etc. Bring all strands of twine up and around your item and secure with knots, using the remainder of twine to hang in the run!
Voila! Chicken fun for all. What’s that they say? “Girls just wanna have fun!”
