Easy Cucumber Mint Cooler Recipe

Easy Cucumber Mint Cooler Recipe
:: Easy Cucumber Mint Cooler Recipe ::

I don’t know about you, but here in Virginia we can get some very high temps in the summer.  This cooler is so refreshing for this particular time of year!  It replenishes and hydrates like a boss. 🙂

Cucumber

Cucumber, specifically, has some amazing benefits to the body – by infusing your water with cucumber you’re adding vitamins C & K and also potassium – as outlined  by Livestrong!

Mint

Mint – aside from just smelling fabulous – boasts it’s own benefits as well.  Mint activates salivary glands, aiding in digestion as well as stimulating our mood. Its aroma is effective for nausea as well as headaches. There are many other effects mint can have, but the flavor it brings to your water just makes you want to drink more water! Which is such a good thing– Plain water can get boring.

Honey

Raw honey that hasn’t been stripped of nutrients and beneficial enzymes as with many commercial honeys is loaded with many essential vitamins and minerals. It contains -B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 , C… an impressive list! It also contains minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium chlorine, calcium, copper, iron, manganese, sulphur, zinc and phosphate.  But what does it DO for us??  Raw honey is rich in antioxidants and it supports good bacteria.  Many ailments stem from an imbalance in our systems between bad and good bacteria so we need all the help we can get to have gut health!  Raw honey has antibacterial and anti fungal properties. They’re right when they dubbed it liquid gold!

How to Make This Refreshing Cooler

Take about 6 slices of cucumber (some of mine are hiding in the picture!) and 8 mint leaves (cutting each in half) and put in a jar with cool water and ice.  Put a lid on and shake vigorously to prompt infusion.  Leave it in the refrigerator 30 minutes to an hour is ideal if you can wait that long. In another glass or jar, place 2 Tbsp of raw honey and add a little warm water to fully dissolve the honey, stirring or shaking.  Put the two mixtures together and add more ice if necessary. Enjoy!

We can get those things in my garden (except for the honey) so I’ll have to try this.
