Mummy Pop Tarts

With Halloween fast approaching there are tons of great recipes out there that celebrate this fun season. These Mummy Pop Tarts should top the list! They’re adorable, easy to make, and best of all they’re YUMMY! Yummy mummy pop tarts make a great snack, breakfast treat, or adorable addition to any holiday party. They’re not gruesome so they can easily fit into any theme for Halloween and if you take out the eyes and complete the woven pattern they make great individual pies for Thanksgiving! Mummy pop tarts could not be easier to make; with just three ingredients they can be whipped up by just about anyone. If you have a homemade dough recipe that you love you can also substitute that in for the pre-made crusts! Use different pie fillings to suit your tastes (cherry would make a spooky bloody mummy) and have the kids help for a fun DIY breakfast treat!

Mummy Pop Tarts

Ingredients:

Refrigerator pie crust (the ones without the pie tin)
1 can Pumpkin pie filling
Pumpkin pie spice
sugar
candy eyes
Rectangle cookie cutter or a index card

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.  Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Unroll the crust.
Using either the cookie cutter or index card with a Wilton Food Writer trace the lines.
Cut the dough to match the lines.
Mix the sugar and pumpkin pie spices to the pumpkin pie filling, stir well.
With a spoon add a dollop of the pumpkin pie filling, spread it out thin.
Unroll the second crust cutting it into thin long pieces.
Refer to the pictures.
Begin layering the cut crust over the filled bottom crust.
Criss/cross the thin pieces to make it look like a wrapped mummy.
Bake at 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes  or until the crust has a golden color to it.
Watch carefully.
Remove from oven and allow to cool briefly.
Add the eyes.
Allow to cool completely.
