RIP Pumpkin Brownies

Halloween is right around the corner and this year I am ready.  It seems like this year more than any other I am in desperate need of cool weather and fall colors.  In my home that is also the time that I start baking up a storm and practicing my Halloween Baking.  I know it sounds a bit silly but every year I do a trial run of what I am going to make for the actual holiday. I love doing this and it allows me time to make sure I have all the ingredients on hand. ( I learned long ago to prepare)

Today I am sharing our favorite Homemade Brownie recipe in RIP Pumpkin Brownies.
These are going to be such a cute addition to my Halloween Table.

RIP Pumpkin Brownies Recipe:

RIP Pumpkin Brownies Ingredients:

1 C unsalted butter, melted
1/2 C cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla
4 eggs, room temp
1 1/2 C flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
RIP Pumpkin Brownies Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using baking spray treat the baking dish.
Mix in the ingredients as they are added.
Pour melted butter into a bowl ad the sugar, cocoa, vanilla, eggs, flour, baking powder and salt.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.

Royal Icing:

RIP Pumpkin Brownies Icing Ingredients:

2 egg whites
1 C powder sugar
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
Green gel food coloring

RIP Pumpkin Brownies Icing Directions:

If icing is  not stiff enough add 1/4 C powder sugar.
Spoon the icing into a bowl.
Add several drops of  green gel food coloring in the large bowl of icing. Stir well to mix the color.

Decorating the brownie:

RIP Pumpkin Brownies Ingredients:

Tombstone, candy  (Michaels)
Wilton Foodwriter, black (Michaels)
Pumpkin candy

Directions:

Using the green icing cover a corner of the brownie to look like grass.
With your Wilton Foodwriter in black, write RIP.
Place a candy tombstone in the center of the back of the brownie.
Add a candy pumpkin on the plot of icing grass.
