Living Your Dream

Living Your Dream

:: Living Your Dream ::

Regardless of what you dream of, I’m here to encourage you!  Don’t give up, even if you find you’re still far from it.

Our dream was to have enough land to be able to work toward some form of small farm life.  A hobby farm! – That’s the term for it!  It just seemed so far off for so long.

Once we found our home and land, the work had just begun.  Our land only featured our house. The lawn even had to be developed not to mention the pasture, shelters that would house our future animals, and the garden soil!

Living Your Dream

Slowly and steadily, with each accomplishment, fuel was provided for the next task at hand.  We were at such a place in life – that being able to work toward our goal finally was absolutely refreshing – even though it was completely exhausting most days!

Living Your Dream

Stopping to enjoy beauty along the way is one trick I keep up my sleeve 🙂  It helps me beyond words!  I often share that with people intrigued by the lifestyle change we’ve made in these short three years.

Living Your Dream

Living Your Dream

I have learned more in this particular journey than I ever have in my life!  And it has reminded me of something I think I had forgotten in my weary state:  LEARNING IS FUN!   I will never arrive and know it all. Sometimes it feels a bit daunting to think about all I have yet to learn but I’m grateful. It’s enriching to learn by doing.

Living Your Dream

Reaching for your dreams is exciting but it can be a time of uncertainty.  I just want to say “YOU’VE GOT THIS!  GO FOR IT!”   You can do it – the dream is in your heart so you just keep on keeping on!  Things will take shape before you know it!

Living Your Dream

Do you need encouragement?  Or do you have some you could offer to others?  Let us know you were here and leave a comment!

Your photos are gorgeous and it looks like you have such a happy and peaceful lifestyle. We used to live in a rural area and I miss it sometimes, but we found jobs in a bigger town.

Thank you Daisy… we started life out in the country, ended up in several bigger towns, and now we’re back in the country. It just feels right for us. That’s the wonderful thing about joy and peace… you can have it anywhere! 🙂

That’s so cool! My son loves animals and my daughter wishes she had a horse so I’m sure my kids would love it if we had a “hobby farm” too!

Candace, I remember my kids being much younger and doing tons of research – my daughter wanted angora rabbits for years before we finally could! She’s 19 now and beginning to breed her angoras and harvest their wool! I love to hear of your son’s & daughter’s love for animals. But even if you don’t dream of a farm yourself, I just wanted to encourage everyone not to give up. Your dream is special… as special as YOU are! 🙂

Wow, Kristin, thank you! I really appreciate your kind words! I really wanted to expose a piece of my heart that had waited so long… and encourage anyone that knows that “long wait” feeling! I hope you find great joy in whatever dream you are working towards!

That’s awesome Pam! I love that you are supporting your son in one of his dreams! My daughter waited so long to have angora rabbits and now is going to be breeding a wonderful breeding stock she’s developed and is going to be selling the wool. I have zero experience with sheep and quail. Dairy goats are new this year for us and we’ve had experience with guineas. It’s amazing to think back at all I’ve learned through experience! I’m sure you have some stories to tell!!!

I love your pictures! It looks so relaxing. I like you live in a rural area (and a farm) and love how things are just a bit slower here. Everything seems to be in perspective as we spend the summer watching our crop take root.

What types of crops, Brandy??? I’d love to know! We’ve done a lot we’ve wanted to, but with all the construction it’s required, we are hoping things calm down a bit even though we have more we want to do. (our logic is that we won’t have as much to build!!!) lol!

We have a “hobby farm” too. We have a few chickens and a dog right now. We had horses and steers for a while, but just the chickens for right now. I love living in the country and wouldn’t change it for anything!

I am becoming more and more attached to our flock, Linette. I’m surprised… I never realized I had the potential to become a crazy chicken lady but I think I am! We’d love to be able to raise a cow for beef, but we have an acre of our land that we can’t use right now. Someday soon I hope! I’m glad to know a fellow country girl! 🙂
